The iconic Great Northern Hotel is situated in the heart of Newcastle. Surviving depressions, recessions, floods and earthquakes, the building still stands alone as an art deco treasure situated in the historic East End convict precinct. The Hotel has been rebuilt three times in the same location, with the current building opening its doors to the public in 1938. Even Her Majesty the Queen stayed here when she was visiting our fair shores in the city's halcyon days.
