Brisbane's best kept secret waiting to be discovered. Garuva caters both to couples and larger gatherings of up to thirty people. The atmosphere is very private and especially intimate for couples.

Patrons sit on cushioned rugs on the floor with supported back rests, low tables and very dim lighting. All tables and booths are enclosed by sheer curtains.

During the week the mood of the restaurant is very tranquil as the name suggests, with busier and louder Friday and Saturday nights.

Even on the loudest evening there are eight booths in one corner of the venue devoted to groups of two to four for those patrons wishing to enjoy the tranquillity of Garuva.

Set apart from the main booths, there is a private function room in the far corner which can accommodate up to 30 patrons. Especially suitable for large birthday parties, hen's nights, going away parties, staff functions and more.

The restaurant and cocktail bar is open 7 nights a week from 6pm to midnight and is only closed on certain public holidays. The restaurant is fully licensed and not BYO.

The bar setting is very casual and sensual with mood lighting and lamps. Large cushions are scattered all over the floor for those just wishing to stretch out, relax and enjoy a cocktail or two, and listen to quiet music in the background. For those not wishing to sit or lie on the cushions, there are stools positioned around wine kegs and a couple of comfortable couches in the corner.

During the week Sunday to Thursday there is no time restriction, but Friday and Saturday nights when the restaurant is fully booked for 2 sittings, the first sitting is for 2 hours only. Most patrons prefer after a couple of hours to go into the cocktail bar and finish off the night relaxing on cushions on the floor listening to background music in the bar Friday and live music on Saturday nights 8pm to 11pm.

Garuva Hidden Tranquility Restaurant & Bar's popularity is due to word of mouth. New patrons are coming through the doors every night and there is not even a sign outside.

Garuva Hidden Tranquility Restaurant began in Fortitude Valley around 1986. Because of the popularity of the restaurant right from inception, a cocktail bar was added a few years later to house those guests who were waiting to go into the restaurant to dine.
